In Durham, North Carolina, Hood Street Condos was developed as a multi-family community with a clear objective, to provide dependable and affordable housing within a rapidly changing urban district. The design recognizes the practical needs of its residents and focuses on creating straightforward, efficient living spaces without unnecessary complexity.

The project organizes its units with an emphasis on function and clarity, removing features that might compromise affordability or ease of maintenance. Circulation is direct, layouts are simplified, and the architecture maintains a calm, restrained presence along the street. Rather than striving for dramatic openness or expansive views, the design prioritizes reliability; solid construction, sensible proportions, and spaces that support everyday routines.

In its restraint, Hood Street Condos reflects a commitment to housing that is accessible and grounded in purpose. The result is a community shaped not by excess, but by the essential qualities that allow residents to establish a stable home in the heart of Durham.
