Johns Island Baseball and Softball Park

Johns Island, South Carolina

The Johns Island Baseball and Softball Park project is in Johns Island, South Carolina, and is owned and operated by the City of Charleston and is being used by the Charleston County School District (CCSD). The project focuses on the comprehensive renovation of the existing baseball and softball fields, updating them to better serve both the public and St. John’s High School’s baseball and softball programs.

The renovation includes new sports lighting, modern scoreboards, updated dugouts and bullpens, and the installation of new batting cages to enhance player experience and functionality. In addition, site improvements include upgraded parking, landscaping, and hardscape elements that unify the park’s circulation and public amenities.

The design carefully balances athletic performance, safety, and accessibility, ensuring that all components meet the requirements of the CCSD and the City of Charleston, as well as current building and life safety codes. Thoughtful placement of spectator areas, player facilities, and support spaces creates a cohesive and efficient ballpark layout, while new infrastructure improves the park’s usability, visibility, and overall community presence.

This renovation transforms the ballpark into a modern, well-appointed public sports facility, providing both high-quality athletic fields for competitive programs and inviting spaces for recreational use by the community.

This project was successfully completed by Studio Architects, prior to the establishment of FUSE Design Studio and was worked on by Timothy Helms, a current team member of FUSE Design Studio.
