Olmstead

Nashville, Tennessee

Olmstead Nashville envisions a dynamic mixed-use community with apartments stacked above a multi-level podium, which conceals several levels of parking below. It is composed of two separate buildings divided by a fire wall, allowing for functional independence while maintaining a unified aesthetic.

The architecture draws inspiration from the historic buildings of Amsterdam, evident in the rhythm, proportions, and materiality of the façades. At the ground level, giant circular vaults—typically found underground—are repurposed as striking architectural features that frame social booths and gathering spaces, activating the common areas in unexpected ways.

Uniquely, the amenity spaces are located on the upper levels, providing residents with expansive views of Nashville and creating a sense of openness and community high above the city streets. The project balances robust urban infrastructure with playful, experiential design gestures, resulting in a complex that feels both monumental and welcoming to each resident.

This project was successfully completed by Davis Architects, prior to the establishment of FUSE Design Studio and was worked on by Timothy Helms, a current team member of FUSE Design Studio.
