St. John’s High School Stadium and Entry Plaza Renovation

 Johns Island, South Carolina

Located along Main Road on Johns Island, South Carolina, the St. John’s High School Concessions and Press Box Renovation and Expansion project enhances an essential component of the school’s athletic campus and elevates the experience for students, athletes, and the broader community. Developed in collaboration with the Charleston County School District (CCSD) and the South Carolina Department of Education’s Office of School Facilities (OSF), the project reimagines the existing facilities to better support contemporary athletic programming, event operations, and visitor engagement.

The design thoughtfully expands the existing concessions building by introducing 460 square feet of improved service and support space, creating a more efficient, welcoming, and clearly organized gathering point for spectators. Adjacent to this, the press box building is transformed into a more functional and adaptable operations center. The renovated main level provides 480 square feet of enhanced workspace for coaching, media, and event staff, while a new elevated filming platform—approximately 700 square feet—offers a dedicated vantage point for game recording, broadcasting, and coaching analysis.

All renovation and expansion efforts are designed and executed in accordance with CCSD and OSF standards, as well as current building and life safety codes. Through this comprehensive upgrade, St. John’s High School strengthens the identity and performance of its athletic facilities, providing a safer, more engaging, and more functional environment that will serve students and the community for years to come.

This project was successfully completed by Studio Architects, prior to the establishment of FUSE Design Studio and was worked on by Timothy Helms, a current team member of FUSE Design Studio.
